September 8, 2009 (see below for archives). Hello again from your online Thai Supermarket. Today we present two authentic Thai recipes--one of them a Northern Thai regional recipe, and the other is a skillet (or flat wok) method of cooking authentic Pad Thai. We also have offers on new products, and two more Thai street vendor videos. Please let us know what you think of them.

Mangosteen Juice, 12 oz cans
Mangosteen has a heavenly aroma and taste, and here we have a mangosteen drink made from pure mangosteen fruit. The color is a slight pinkish, and we like to drink it plain or mix it with soda water, 7-Up, or even vodka to make a delicious cocktail.

This juice is a new product, packed by Thai Agri Foods (Foco brand) which is one of the largest food companies in Thailand, a massive corporation with the most modern standard of packaging equipment.

Ingredients: water, mangosteen juice (30%), sugar, citric acid, dragon fruit flavor. Product of Thailand..
$12.95 for 12 cans
Black Rice Vinegar, Koon Chun brand
Recently, Bon Appetit magazine recommended this as one of their five "Top Pick" vinegars. "Aromas of five-spice powder with a mild acidity. Whisk with Asian sesame oil, and toss with cold noodles."

Dark in color, it has a deep, almost smoky flavor.  Black rice vinegar works well in braised dishes and as a dipping sauce. We like to put it in a small dish, and add chopped fresh chile peppers, or add a bit of sambal oelek, and serve as a dipping sauce.

Ingredients: water, vinegar, fired rice & spices. Product of Hong Kong.
$5.39
Thai Scraper
This steel scraper with a wood handle is featured in three Thai recipe videos at ImportFood. See it in action here:

Hoi Tod (mussel pancake)
Pad Thai
Khanom Buang

It's a rigid metal but slightly flexible. Perfect for scraping your skillet, whether you're cooking Thai food or not. The handle is all wood. It's well-made and simple, and similar to Thai knives, offered at a reasonable price. 8.5" long, the scraper width is 3.5". Product of Thailand.
$3.25
Rice Stick Noodles, 16 oz

Note we highlight this in our feature recipe this month, so we are offering to ship this to you for just $1 per 16 oz package. Regular price, at $2.49, is already a great deal. This is all-natural, made of the finest rice which is a particular variety grown just to make noodles.

Ingredients: rice, water. Product of Thailand.
$1.00 (please do not order more than 6).

Pad Thai Sauce, Maxchup
This sauce works perfectly to prepare a quick and authentic Pad Thai in Your Skillet at home, just like in our new street vendor video this week. At $1.00 it is a giveaway price just because we want you to try and enjoy this excellent sauce.

Of the new Maxchup sauces, we like this Pad Thai sauce the best. It's got a nice smooth balance of sour, vinegar, sweet and salty. A more authentic Pad Thai. Ingredients: sugar, tamarind paste, vinegar, salt, shallot, red chile, disodium inosinate, guanylate, sodium benzoate, natural color added. Product of Thailand..

For a few days only, we offer it to you for just $1 as a promotion. Product of Thailand.
$1.00 (reg $3.49) The $1 price is no longer available.
Recent Magazines That Mentioned The Products of ImportFood.com. Bon Appetit recently endorsed our Koon Chun brand black rice vinegar, and our Squid brand fish sauce. American icon Martha Stewart referred her readers to ImportFood.com for Sambal Oelek and Fresh Thai chile pepppers. We take seriously the trust these magazines have in ImportFood.com.

Bon Appetit is serious about cooking, and their suggestion to purchase Koon Chun vinegar is no surprise--chef's have ordered this particular vinegar from us by the case for years.

Martha Stewart Living is the most interesting cooking-based lifestyle magazine we've seen in America, and perhaps by chance it seems that Martha's overall presentation has a distinctive, unique "Thai style" about it. Does she have Thai staff? Did Martha live in Saochingcha as a kid? Flowers, good food, and handicrafts all characterize authentic Thai style--and Martha Stewart features them together like a native Thai.
Solid Granite Mortar and Pestle: Always Popular
You will love this tool that's so useful for cooking. We've sold thousands of these handmade tools. Our prehistoric-looking solid granite mortar & pestle is repeatedly mentioned as one of the best cooking tools available, period--recently by one of Bon Appetit's main correspondents. Read more about it here. Product of Thailand.
