Bangkok Vendor Offers Traditional Thai Coffee and Tea, 'Cafe Boran'While coffee in the United States is often better than what you find in Bangkok, this lady offers a tasty variety of choices. Most customers, as you will see, drink iced coffee or her popular fresh soymilk. She also has traditional Thai icetea, as you can see in the pictures. We offer for sale the tall glass containers she uses. The shop is always busy, she prepares every drink herself, and there is often a line of people gathered. Laminated Thai-language newspapers on the wall tell a story of how much locals love her coffee, and a there's a framed picture of her at the shop with a popular conservative politician from the area, and current Thai Prime Minister--Samak. As she may not understand English, you can point to what you want or simply say "Cafe Borahn, Yen" which means tradiitional Thai coffee, iced. Enjoy watching her prepare it using the Thai method of steeping in the Thai tea filter, mixing with condensed milk, and pouring over ice. As you walk down Mahannop Road, across the street from Niyom Pochana and down a hundred feet or so, you'll see her there in the clean, organized shop. If you keep walking, right next door is this fabulous noodle shop. See our free map! Or Click Here To Download The Free Map in PDF format. |
