Fresh fruit grows abundantly in Thailand, and the Thai diet includes a high amount of fruit. All year-long you can find vendors with carts offering a variety of fresh fruit which is displayed on ice in nice glass cases, sectioned off, with hinged lids. For a very reasonable price, the vendor will remove a portion on fruit from the cart, slice it and place in a plastic bag for you. Usually a small bag of fruit seasoning, a mix of sugar, salt and ground chile pepper, is provided at no extra cost.

This vendor has in his case today whole fresh guava and whole pickled guava, coconut, pineapple, cantelope, mango, watermelon, and rose apple.
