Hello again, and welcome back! Today we feature a perfectly cooked, pan-fried butter steak delicately flavored with fish sauce and oyster sauce. We also have the new Phnom Pen style Mama noodles, new Kaset brand Thai porridge, more on our hand forged knives, and new Thai oyster sauce.
NEW: Pan-Fried Butter Steak
We learned how to make this steak from a local chef with a very keen sense of taste. Oyster sauce and fish sauce are key ingredients but the finished steak doesn't have a hint of Asian flavors -- just a lovely slight sweet garlic glaze and the rich flavor of beef.

This is a brand new flavor from Mama, a gently spiced soup they call Phnom Pen style. We enjoyed making this with thinly sliced beef, fresh cilantro and lime.
Distinctive because it's made with nice white rice noodles not the yellow wheat-based noodles typically found in Mama.

NEW STOCK: Mae Krua Oyster Sauce - On Sale
We just got a fresh shipment of Mae Krua, with Best By date through 2019. It's just the best oyster sauce. We love to marinate steak with plenty of oyster sauce, a handful of crushed garlic cloves and a little bit of fish sauce, as in recipe above.
Maekrua is the most familiar brand of oyster sauce, having a near monopoly in every household, and for good reason. The flavor is just excellent. Mae Krua is the gold standard for taste and quality.
AMAZING ELEPHANT CREATES EPIC BATCH
Recently we finished a fresh new batch of Amazing Elephant Tom Kha, and this is our best ever. An 'Epic Batch'. The coconut milk was fresh, had just arrived from Thailand a few days before. But probably the best thing about this batch is the fact that we had beautiful fresh chile peppers at perfect maturity, These late season chillies were a particular variety; created the perfect bold heat with high heat yet mellow finish. Try this batch if you like Tom Kha. It's our best ever.
