Thai MSG

Our MSG is made in Thailand from a pioneer that's been making it for over 50 years.

Commonly added to Thai recipes to improve the flavor, many chefs add it to everything from noodles to fresh salad. In Thai MSG is called "pong churod", and you can feel free to request a meal with no pong churod if you'd rather avoid it.

It's controversial but in our new recipe for Kee Mao we show how to use it sparingly, and we love the results.

NEW Thai Recipe: Thai Drunken Noodles, Kee Mao

This is a new, slightly less-spicy version of our original kee mao recipe.

Kee Mao are drunken noodles, meaning eaten drunk, fiery hot spice level.

Has a touch of MSG which is optional but recommended here to get the optimal flavor.

Back in Stock: Heavy Thai Cleaver

This is a serious, heavy-duty handmade cleaver in a traditional design, and a great value. Should last forever. Total weight is 22 oz (nearly 1.5 lb) because the high quality steel is really thick, but also well-balanced.

The thickness of the steel is about 3/16". Length is 12". Wood handle is 4.5" long, nicely-shaped, firmly attached with rustic steel pins. Blade is 7.5" long, 3.5" high. One side of the blade has the pounded name of the person who made the knife.

Back in Stock: Thai Machete Cleaver

Entirely made by hand with heavy steel.

This is very rustic and at the same time a work of art. It's entirely pounded and sharpened by hand, and will give you years of use.

Ready to sharpen over and over again.

Back in Stock - Thai Chicken Batter Mix

This is curiously one of our most popular items lately, for some reason we sold all we had a few weeks ago and just got more.

This batter perfectly coats your chicken (or vegetables, as we made fried mushrooms and onions that turned out excellent). Simply mix this with water and sugar (see mix below).

You really can't go wrong, and it's just excellent batter.

Fresh Kaffir Lime Leaves

As we enter winter, the leaves start to go to sleep and lose their luscious character. Expect thinner, less fragrant leaves starting December through March/April. We still have a lot of very high quality fresh lime leaves being harvested this week so please consider ordering now what you may need through March. These leaves freeze very well and ship good in the current cool weather too.

Thai Sticky Rice Kit
