Thai Recipe Update / ImportFood
Hello again and welcome back as the spring weather starts to bring more sunshine. We have summertime unique Thai classic "Sala Cider" back in stock, Maesri Pla Tu, and much more to share. Many years ago we filmed a Thai Street Vendor Video Series, checkout one of our favorite features on Thai Style Snocones. Our Praram Long Song recipe is perfectly prepared also. Thanks for visiting!
Thai Street Vendor Snocones
The treats are much more than a simple flavored shaved ice, as there are three layers. First you choose what goes into the lower layer, there is toddy palm, sweet potato candies, sweet pumpkin, foy thong and bread for the lower layer. Then the vendor will top that with shaved iced. On top of the shaved ice will be a flavored syrup such as Hale's Blue Boy.
Back in Stock: Hale's Blue Boy Sala Flavor
Hale's Blue Boy brand has been offering aromatic, very sweet drinks in Thailand for many years. This is a sweet syrup that can be used on snocones, or more commonly mixed (1 part syrup with 4 parts water).
Back in Stock: Namprik Pla-Tu, Maesri Thailand
This is a hometown favorite "namprik" paste from Maesri brand, who we find makes the finest quality chile pastes. There's nothing like it, a true taste of home for a Thai person. Beware it's strong smelling with a bold flavor.
Mama Brand, Instant Noodles, Thai Green Curry
Mama's relatively new instant noodle is green curry flavor, which is very authentic to green curry taste. It comes with a dry spice packet and a packet of green curry paste.
You put both packets in a bowl with the noodles, add 1 cup of boiling water, cover for three minutes and serve. We also added some fresh Thai basil. This meal has mild spice and delicious.
Instant Noodles, Wai Wai, Vegetarian
WAI WAI brand are the original Thai instant noodle. We are delighted to offer this. For over 40 years Wai Wai has been a familiar, original taste in Thailand, but not as well known overseas except for their famous rice vermicelli.
This is "Vegetarian" style, with vegetable flavoring.
Back in Stock: Tai Pla (Pickled Fish Bladder) Sauce
The pickled fish bladder (Tai Pla) is used to make a special soup using a heavy dose of local spices and large chunks of dried fish meat. Lately people all over Thailand crave the Tai Pla that comes from various regions.
Thai Rama Chicken, Praram Long Song
This dish dates to the time of King Rama 5, about 140 years ago. Originally it was made with beef, but nowadays pork and chicken are often used. Praram is a name for the God Rama, or King Rama, in The Ramkian. The Ramakian is the Thai version of an Indian Hundu epic written 2000 years ago. Long Song translates as 'take a shower'.
